I spent the past weeks to the preparations for an exhibition in Walls Gallery. This guardian of the city, is part of a new series of paintings that I made especially for this exhibition. The guardians offer protection and watch over us and our environment. This painting is among others to view and for sale until January 19, 2012.

Forgot to say that the opening of the exhibition was also truly amazing!

The Morran Book Project is finished! And it looks wonderful!
Camilla Engman made a beautiful composition in the book of all entries for The Morran Book Project. It is a unique tribute to Morran, with love from around the world.

Over the past weeks I have worked very hard and am glad I finally got the good news to share with you:
From tomorrow, my work can be seen in Walls gallery in Amsterdam. It will be on display and also for sale for two months. So if you are around, you are warmly invited to come and see!

This week I was so inspired by this beautiful stone and so I just started sketching.
The beauty of the stone, I think is his toughness and yet its softness and warm colors.
These elements I wanted to try to capture in a character. And suddenly there were these stone ladies, which turned out to be quite fond of yellow and orange.

After my first day of vacation, I made 101 plans to do, but in reality I was so tired , that I could only sleep, eat, ride on my bike, sleep, eat again, visit friends and family, cook diner, sleep again and go to the zoo to look at the beauty and magic of animals..
I just needed a little break from my drawings, ideas and pc!
But after nearly two weeks I really missed drawing and blogging! So here I am again.
And I’m starting very fresh with some great news.

Sometimes there's so much going on in our lives that we forget to take care of our selves and protect our 'inner selfs'. I'm learning little by little to do that better than before. Good food and lots of sleep helps me a lot in difficult times.
Does that sound familiar to you? and may i ask you: How do you protect yourself?
(ooh i see that it's late again, i'm not a good example ;))

Tour de wheels, для желтого велосипедиста

This weekend was the start of the Tour de France in Rotterdam! It was incredible and i was so lucky to see everything so close and feel the sensation, power and magic of the tour!
The colors and shapes of the bikes and the sportmen are very hightec and extremely well designed, really inspiring to me :)
Afterwards i rememberd that i made this picture about 6 months ago for a project. it was my interpretation of what a journey can mean to us...and a little tribute to my father who loves bikes and adores the Tour de France!

Na een fantastisch weekend waarin de Tour de France startte in Rotterdam, herinnerde ik mij opeens een foto die ik een half jaar geleden had gemaakt. Het is een foto uit een reeks waarin ik afbeeldde wat een reis kan betekenen voor ons.. en een kleine ode aan mijn vader, die zo van fietsen houdt en gek is op de Tour de France!

Een vliegend geschenk, A flying gift

Afgelopen week ben ik een van de gelukkige winnaressen geworden die een set van 25 gevouwen kraanvogeltjes heeft gewonnen! :) Ik ben er super blij mee en het is gewoon een onbeschrijfelijk mooi gevoel om onverwacht een pakketje te krijgen die met zoveel zorg en liefde is gemaakt en vormgegeven en naar jou verzonden wordt, echt magisch! Bovendien kreeg ik niet alleen mooie vogeltjes, maar ook een prachtige oude postkaart en een zelfgemaakt tasje van een oude kaart van Rotterdam, geweldig! Na de heftige studie beoordelingen van laatste tijd is dit helemaal een verwennerij :)
De giveaway was van Ingthings, een heel mooi blog van een bijzondere en vrijgevige vrouw! Ze heeft zelf deze lamp van vogeltjes gemaakt:)

The world is full with great words, some of them are hidden in the shade, some are secret, some are waiting for the right moment, others are very loved and shared. What would you like to tell others? What would you like to share and what would you think if your words would be illustrated and send back to you?

Illustrated words is a project where poems, text or quotes will be illustrated by me.
A theme is posted every month and then everybody is invited to send me their poem, text or quote interpretation of that theme. Every week I’ll choose at least one textual interpretation and illustrated it.

If your text will be chosen and illustrated by me, I’ll make a link to your blog or website and I’ll send you a real letter with the printed version of the illustration accompanied with your textual interpretation.

This is a part of my collection of old books, I wanted to share with you all. I found them on flea markets, some of them are just with me since my childhood. When you click on the image, you will see them all and in big size, Enjoy!
There’s something so beautiful and esthetic about them, maybe it’s the care and love and craftsmanship what makes them so special, besides there age of course. When I have time again I will definitely make a new post of the other parts!
